Marian Kmita appointed acting president of Polish Olympic Committee
Marian Kmita has been appointed to serve as the acting president of the Polish Olympic Committee (PKOl) until the next elections scheduled for April 2027. The decision follows the removal of Radosław Piesiewicz, who was detained by the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime in connection with an investigation into the Zondacrypto cryptocurrency exchange. Piesiewicz faces charges of providing paid protection and favoring certain creditors, though he has not pleaded guilty.
Due to his new responsibilities at the PKOl, Kmita will take an unpaid leave of absence from his long-standing role as the director of sports at Polsat Television. The Polsat Plus Group announced that Piotr Pykel, Kmita’s current deputy, will take over his duties as director of sports. Pykel has been associated with the station for over 20 years and also holds a position as vice president of Eleven Sports Net.
