While Piesiewicz maintains he purchased the watch with his own funds via cash installments, journalists have noted a lack of receipts or contracts to verify the transaction.

In August 2026, the investigation expanded as the Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime detained Piesiewicz in Warsaw. This detention is linked to an ongoing probe into the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange ZondaCrypto. Allegations suggest that in exchange for the watch, luxury hotel accommodations, and trips provided by Kral, Piesiewicz offered to use his influence to resolve regulatory issues involving the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK). Piesiewicz has denied these allegations. Meanwhile, officials from UOKiK and the office of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki have denied involvement. The probe is also linked to the disappearance of ZondaCrypto founder Sylwester Suszek.
