Mariano Páez arrested for alleged robbery in Santiago del Estero

Mariano Páez, a transport entrepreneur from Santiago del Estero, has been arrested following an alleged robbery at a construction materials store in Termas de Río Hondo. The incident occurred on October 10 at a Lo Bruno establishment.

According to investigators, Páez and his partner, María Emilia Soledad Batule, entered the premises and waited at the checkout. Authorities allege that Páez took advantage of a distraction by an employee to seize approximately 1.5 million pesos in cash from the counter, which he then handed to Batule before they both fled the scene.

Security camera footage played a decisive role in identifying the suspects. Following a judicial order from Judge Silvio Salice, police conducted raids in the Alberdi neighborhood of Santiago del Estero. During the operation, authorities seized 632,600 pesos in cash, a Toyota RAV4, and clothing matching the footage from the store. Both Páez and Batule remain in custody awaiting formal questioning by prosecutor Emanuel Sabater.

Páez has previously drawn public attention due to his daughter, Agostina Páez, an attorney who was detained in Brazil earlier this year for racial insults, and for his own controversial social media presence.
