Maricá promotes local gastronomy at Brazil Origin Week in Porto and hosts Workers' Day events

Maricá participated in the Brazil Origin Week international fair in Porto, Portugal, using the event to highlight local products, potential economic sectors, and initiatives aimed at leveraging the municipality’s production for tourism, agriculture, and industry. The Amar (Companhia Maricá Alimentos) presided over a gastronomic experience featuring a dish prepared with family-farm products, underscoring the city’s culinary identity to an international audience. The mayor, Washington Quaquá, stated that the participation helps project Maricá to the world, strengthen the economy, create jobs, and internationalize the city’s name.

Separately, the city organized a May Day program on the Orla do Parque Nanci, led by the Secretariat of Work and Employment. The event focused on employment generation, professional training, entrepreneurship, culture, and leisure, illustrating a broad approach to workforce development and community services on the holiday. The activities were designed to connect residents with job opportunities and skills development while engaging the public in the waterfront area.
