Marilyn Manson's inclusion in The Town festival sparks controversy

The organizers of the The Town festival in São Paulo have announced Marilyn Manson as one of the first confirmed performers for the 2027 edition, scheduled for September at the Autódromo de Interlagos. The announcement, which also included the band Slipknot, has drawn significant criticism from fans on social media platforms such as X and Instagram.

Since 2021, Brian Warner, known professionally as Marilyn Manson, has faced multiple allegations of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse, as well as coercive control. These accusations were notably brought forward by actress Evan Rachel Wood, followed by Esmé Bianco and Ashley Walters. While the singer has denied all allegations, maintaining that his relationships were consensual, the controversy has resurfaced following the festival lineup announcement.

In response to the backlash, festival representatives issued a statement asserting that they “repudiate any manifestation of violence, aggression and harassment, whatever it may be,” and stated that it is the responsibility of competent authorities to evaluate accusations and determine accountability.
