Marilyn Manson performance controversies

Controversy has emerged regarding scheduled performances by musician Marilyn Manson following his inclusion in various festival lineups.

In late September 2026, organizers of The Town festival in São Paulo announced Manson as a performer for their 2027 edition. This announcement triggered significant social media criticism due to long-standing allegations of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse brought forward by individuals including Evan Rachel Wood and Esmé Bianco. While Manson has denied all allegations, festival representatives stated they “repudiate any manifestation of violence, aggression and harassment, whatever it may be,” noting that accountability rests with competent authorities.

By mid-October 2026, the controversy expanded to the United Kingdom. Anton Georgiou, leader of the Liberal Democrat Group at Brent Council, called for Wembley Stadium to cancel Manson’s scheduled July 2027 performance as a support act for Slipknot. Georgiou argued that the booking contradicts local efforts to combat violence against women and girls. In response, Brent Council officials noted they have no direct control over venue bookings, while some fans have indicated intentions to boycott the event.
