Marilyn N to face trial for alleged psychiatric impersonation

A judge in San Andrés Cholula has denied a request to suspend the criminal proceedings against Marilyn N, an individual accused of impersonating a psychiatrist. Judge David González Rodríguez ruled that the defendant must remain in preventive detention, citing her as a risk to public health and the safety of her victims.

The defense sought to reach a reparatory agreement with six victims to allow for a conditional suspension of the process. However, legal advisors for the affected parties argued that the defense failed to guarantee that the defendant would not repeat her unauthorized medical practices.

Marilyn N faces charges of professional impersonation, threats, and other offenses after patients reported she was prescribing medications and providing psychiatric consultations without certification or professional documentation. One victim reported that the treatments received between 2019 and 2020 exacerbated anxiety and caused side effects due to rapid changes in high-dose antipsychotic medications. The case could set a legal precedent in the Puebla region regarding the unauthorized practice of medicine.
