TV Globo announces new telenovela leads for 2027

TV Globo has announced several new lead roles for its upcoming 2027 programming lineup.

Marina Ruy Barbosa will star in the 10 p.m. telenovela ‘Romance em SP’, written by Thelma Guedes and directed by Natália Grimberg. The 32-chapter production follows Clarice, a young woman from the outskirts of São Paulo working as an app driver to support her family, whose life changes after meeting an heir to a powerful fashion dynasty. This marks Barbosa's return to the network's prime-time slot since 2023.

Additionally, Maisa Silva has been cast as the protagonist of the 6 p.m. telenovela ‘Tempos de Glória’. Set in the 1940s, the story focuses on Glória, a young woman fighting against social prejudices to pursue her dream of playing football, reflecting the historical era when women's football was legally prohibited in Brazil. The production is scheduled to premiere in the first half of 2027.
