Marina Silva and Simone Tebet confirmed as joint Senate candidates for São Paulo

Former environment minister Marina Silva and former agriculture minister Simone Tebet have been confirmed as the coalition’s Senate candidates for São Paulo. The ticket was announced by pre‑candidate Fernando Haddad, who will lead the ticket with former governor Márcio França as his vice‑presidential running mate. Silva emphasized the symbolic value of a black woman and a white woman running together, stressing dialogue over confrontation and the need for greater female representation in Congress. Tebet, who could not attend the announcement due to an official trip, is also highlighted as part of the alliance that unites the PT and PSB blocs.

Both candidates rejected accusations of being “outsiders,” with Silva calling such allegations misogynistic and noting her long‑standing ties to São Paulo. The joint candidacy aims to present a unified front in a highly polarized political environment ahead of the October elections.
