Marine Le Pen tops French presidential poll despite recent conviction

A July 2026 online poll commissioned by Elabe for BFMTV and La Tribune surveyed 1,503 French adults. The results show Marine Le Pen would win the first round of a presidential election with 34 %‑35.5 % of the vote and would defeat any opponent in a runoff – 52 % against Édouard Philippe, 54 % against Gabriel Attal, and over 67 % against Jean‑Luc Mélenchon. Her lead is strongest among retirees, professionals and voters in large cities, while other candidates lag behind.

Le Pen, who was recently convicted on appeal for misappropriating EU funds, has seen the legal restrictions on her candidacy lifted, allowing her to run again. Party supporters describe her as “invincible,” and the poll indicates the conviction has not diminished her electoral appeal. The survey marks a shift from previous elections where she was an outsider, positioning her as the clear favorite for the 2027 presidential race.
