Mario Sironi works donated to GAMeC in Bergamo
Andrea Sironi – Straußwald, nephew of the renowned 20th-century Italian painter Mario Sironi, has donated a collection of works to the Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (GAMeC) in Bergamo.
The donation includes a large preparatory cardboard for the mural ‘L’Italia tra le Arti e le Scienze’—a monumental work created in 1935 for the Aula Magna at Sapienza University in Rome—as well as seven previously unpublished drawings. Among these is a sketch for the murals of the Palazzo delle Poste in Bergamo and six drawings intended for the tomb of Sironi’s daughter, Rossana.
This transfer of works follows an agreement between the Municipality of Bergamo and the artist’s nephew. The collection is set to be presented on October 16.
