Mario Vespasiani's 'Cantami o Musa' exhibition opens in Grottammare, Italy

On Saturday 11 July, the Palazzo Kursaal in Grottammare hosted the opening of Mario Vespasiani's personal exhibition ‘Cantami o Musa’. The show blends painting, music, poetry and memory, drawing on the historic role of the 19th‑century Kursaal as a centre of Adriatic song. A catalogue featuring the texts of one hundred songs, introduced by philosopher Diego Fusaro, was published for the occasion.

Selected works are also displayed at the nearby Museo Fazzini and the Museum of Contemporary Illustration, creating a dispersed cultural route across the town. Vespasiani, the sole Italian artist invited by the Pontifical Swiss Guard for the 500‑year commemoration of the Sack of Rome, previously presented a work at the Vatican before the Pope. The exhibition’s title references the classical tradition of the Muse and explores mythological subjects such as sirens, Medusa and heroic figures, while emphasizing themes of memory, myth and transcendence.
