Mario Vespasiani “Cantami o Musa” exhibition

The interdisciplinary exhibition “Cantami o Musa” by Italian artist Mario Vespasiani opened on 11 July 2026 at the Palazzo Kursaal in Grottammare. The show combined painting, music, poetry and memory, referencing the 19th‑century Kursaal’s role in Adriatic song. A catalogue of one‑hundred songs, introduced by philosopher Diego Fusaro, was published, and selected works were also displayed at nearby museums, creating a town‑wide cultural route. Vespasiani, previously invited by the Pontifical Swiss Guard for the 500‑year commemoration of the Sack of Rome, drew on mythological subjects such as sirens, Medusa and heroic figures.

A later overview noted the exhibition’s opening and, a few days later, the release of Christopher Nolan’s film *Odissea* (16 July). Commentators highlighted a thematic convergence between Vespasiani’s canvases and Nolan’s cinematic narrative, both exploring memory, destiny and identity through ancient myth, and described the timing as a notable instance of visionary art crossing mediums.
