Maritime operations resume in Príncipe and Azores after vessel technical issues

The port on Príncipe Island has returned to normal operations following the removal of the MV Rehoboth. The vessel, arriving from São Tomé, had been stuck for a week after suffering a structural puncture upon entering the Port of Santo António. The incident caused the ship to take on water, requiring the use of electric pumps to stabilize the vessel. The removal of the ship has unblocked the primary maritime gateway for essential goods to the region, though local merchants and residents have expressed concerns regarding the current safety and capacity of the port infrastructure.

In the Azores, the vessel Gilberto Mariano is scheduled to resume operations this Saturday. The ship had been immobilized for one week due to a technical anomaly detected during a preventive inspection. The transport company, Atlânticoline, confirmed that repairs and mandatory safety checks have been completed. While the return of the vessel will revert some operational changes, current schedule adjustments will remain in place until Monday.
