Mark Cain charged with murder of royal family physician

Mark Cain, 45, has been charged with the murder of his wife, Hannah Cain, a 45-year-old general practitioner who provided medical care to members of the British royal family, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Emergency services responded to the family home in Dersingham, Norfolk, in the early hours of October 4. Responders found Hannah Cain unconscious in an upstairs bedroom; she was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination indicated she died from a traumatic head injury and neck compression.

At the time of the incident, the victim was hosting a sleepover for her three children, aged 8, 11, and 13, along with two friends. The children have been placed in protective care.

Prosecutors allege that Mark Cain attempted to stage the scene as a botched robbery. He initially contacted police to report a burglary, claiming he had struggled with an intruder and sustained superficial injuries. However, investigators determined the scene was staged. Mark Cain appeared before the King’s Lynn Crown Court and remains in custody. A hearing has been scheduled for December 3 to allow for further medical reports.
