Marks & Spencer expands Too Good To Go partnership to reduce food waste
Marks & Spencer is expanding its partnership with the food waste app Too Good To Go, rolling out a program to sell surplus bakery items at a significant discount across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In the UK, the retailer is launching the initiative in 350 stores nationwide. Customers can purchase ‘Surprise Bags’ containing three to four bakery items—valued at a minimum of £10.20—for £3.80. These bags are available for order via the app from Monday to Saturday, one hour before store closing times.
In Ireland, the partnership is being implemented in eight stores. The Surprise Bags in Ireland are priced at €3.99, plus a €0.50 bag charge, for a total of €4.49, with a retail value of approximately €11.98.
The initiative aims to support Marks & Spencer’s goal of halving food waste by 2030. Too Good To Go, which operates in 20 countries, facilitates the sale of unsold food from retailers and restaurants to reduce environmental impact.
