Marília and Botucatu excel at São Paulo regional Paralympic Games
The Associação Mariliense de Esportes Inclusivos (AMEI) from Marília won a total of 106 medals – 72 gold, 27 silver and 7 bronze – at the regional phase of the 7th PARESP held from July 3‑5, 2026 at the Centro Paralímpico Brasileiro in São Paulo. The team topped the women's athletics ranking, placed third in men's athletics, and finished second in both the women's and men’s swimming team rankings, securing qualification for the state final scheduled for August.
Representing Botucatu, the Instituto Clube Cuesta delegation earned 25 medals, claiming first place in the women's category and second in the men’s category. Highlights included gold medals in the 100 m T44, multiple throws events and sprint races across T64 classes. The Botucatu athletes also qualified for the August state phase of the PARESP.
Both delegations’ performances reflect strong local support from municipal sports secretariats and underscore the growth of inclusive sports in São Paulo state.
