Marília Mendonça biopic begins filming in São Paulo's Vila Mariana

Production of the Amazon‑backed biographical film about Brazilian singer Marília Mendonça started on 2 August 2026 in the Vila Mariana neighbourhood of São Paulo. Actress Marina Versos was photographed in costume portraying Mendonça, while actors playing the musical duo Henrique & Juliano also joined the shoot.

The film, directed by Dainara Toffoli, originally cast Daniel Haidar as Henrique, but he was removed over creative differences and has not yet been replaced. Other cast members include Luccas Oliver as Juliano, Marcelo Serrado and Sophia Valverde. Filming began in July 2026 and the release is slated for 2027, though a specific premiere date has not been announced.
