Prime Video’s biopic "Marília" continues its 2026 production schedule. After an initial cast announcement in late June, the full ensemble was confirmed in early July: Marina Versos as Marília, Hermila Guedes as her mother Dona Ruth, Klara Castonado as Maiara, Sophia Valverde, Marcelo Serrado, Daniel Haidar (originally as Henrique), Luccas Oliver as Juliano, and João Guilherme as composer Juliano Tchula. Filming began in July and moved to São Paulo’s Vila Mariana neighbourhood on 2 August, where Versos was photographed in costume. Daniel Haidar was later removed over creative differences and has not been replaced. The project proceeds despite ongoing legal disputes: composer Juliano Tchula has formally refused any depiction of himself and has instructed lawyers to block his likeness, while his mother, Dona Ruth, has reportedly demanded around R$5 million for image rights, sparking a televised debate over the commercialization of the late singer’s legacy. A companion documentary series, “Marília Mendonça: Sentimento Louco,” remains in development. The biopic is slated for a 2027 streaming release on Prime Video.
