Kahramanmaraş hosts exhibition of sacred relics and massive handwritten Quran

A major exhibition titled ‘Kaaba Covers and Sacred Relics Meeting’ has opened in Kahramanmaraş at the Abdülhamid Han Youth Center. Organized by the Onikişubat Municipality and the Kahramanmaraş Provincial Mufti, the event runs until September 13, 2026.

The exhibition features over 150 sacred relics, including items attributed to the Prophet Muhammad, the Ahl al-Bayt, and his companions. Notable items include the Sakal-ı Şerif, Saç-ı Şerif, and Kadem-i Şerif from the collection of businessman Erol Güzel. A centerpiece of the event is the world’s second-largest handwritten Quran, which measures approximately 3 meters when fully opened and weighs 150 kilograms.

Other regional developments include the renovation of the Armutalan Cultural Center in Marmaris to modernize its event spaces and wedding hall. In Kahramanmaraş, local authorities have announced water service interruptions in several neighborhoods within the Onikişubat and Dulkadiroğlu districts, and officials have met with Kahramanmaraş İstiklalspor to discuss the upcoming football season.
