Marmirolo man sentenced to prison for sexual violence and assault

A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to six years and eight months in prison following a violent incident in Marmirolo. The defendant, a resident of Verona currently held in Cremona, was convicted under an abbreviated procedure for sexual violence, injury, resistance to a public official, and permanent facial deformity.

The incident occurred on New Year's Day when the man, after an argument with a 56-year-old acquaintance, attempted to sexually assault a 59-year-old neighbor. When the acquaintance intervened to defend the woman, the defendant attacked him with kicks and punches, eventually biting off a portion of the man's right ear. The defendant also reportedly attacked the carabinieri during his arrest.
