Marrakech authorities arrest individuals for voter bribery and election obstruction

Authorities in Marrakech and surrounding areas have conducted a series of arrests involving individuals suspected of voter bribery and obstructing the electoral process. Security forces and the Royal Gendarmerie increased field presence to protect the integrity of the ongoing elections.

In the Al-Mahamid area, a woman was detained near an educational institution after being suspected of attempting to distribute funds to influence voters. In the Sidi Ibrahim Oasis, three individuals were arrested following a video documenting suspected bribery. Additionally, several men were detained in the Douar Nazala and Douar Al-Koudia areas for allegedly attempting to disrupt the voting process.

In the Tensultant commune, a young man was arrested near a polling station in Douar Zamran for suspected electoral obstruction. Reports indicate the individual is a relative of a candidate in the Sidi Youssef Ben Ali-Tensultant district.

As of midday on the election day, voter turnout in Marrakech was reported at approximately 10 percent, while the Al Haouz province recorded a turnout of 25.50 percent.
