Marrakech authorities arrest man for fake overseas job scam

Authorities in Marrakech have arrested a man in his thirties suspected of defrauding dozens of young Moroccans by promising fake employment contracts abroad. The suspect allegedly exploited the desire of citizens from various cities to migrate and work overseas, charging significant sums of money in exchange for fraudulent travel documents and work agreements.

Following a month-long surveillance operation by the Royal Gendarmerie's judicial center in Bab Doukkala, the suspect was apprehended in flagrante delicto. A search of his residence uncovered numerous passports and various documents bearing different names.

The suspect reportedly confessed to the allegations, stating he had collected over 100 million centimes from his victims. To date, more than 30 victims have been identified, though investigators believe the number may increase as the judicial inquiry continues under the supervision of the public prosecution.
