Moroccan crackdown on transnational organized crime
Overview
Moroccan security services, working in coordination with Europol and Interpol, have conducted operations to dismantle transnational organized crime networks.
In Tangier, authorities arrested a French national of Algerian origin who was the subject of an Interpol red notice related to a fatal shooting in the Paris suburbs in July 2024. He has since been placed in extradition proceedings.
Additional arrests in Tangier and Agadir included a Danish national wanted for incitement to murder and kidnapping, a Swedish national linked to the Foxtrot criminal organization, and another Swedish national suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and murder preparations. Europol noted that these structured networks frequently use social media and encrypted messaging to recruit operatives by promising financial gain.
