Morocco announces economic roadmap targeting 5% growth and 26 million tourists

Moroccan Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri has presented a comprehensive government program for the 2026–2031 period, focusing on economic stability and social development. The administration aims to achieve an average annual economic growth rate of 5% between 2027 and 2031, while maintaining inflation at approximately 2% and keeping the budget deficit within 3% of GDP.

A key pillar of the strategy is a new tourism roadmap for 2027–2030, which targets attracting 26 million tourists by 2030. This follows a strong performance in 2025, where the tourism sector's contribution to the national GDP rose to 7.5%, with a tourism-related GDP increase of 11.7% reaching 129.7 billion dirhams.

To drive investment, the government intends to raise the private sector's share of national investment to two-thirds. Other fiscal objectives include reducing public debt to approximately 62% of GDP by 2031. Social measures include increasing direct social support from 500 to 1,000 dirhams and implementing reforms to the family code and pension systems.

Additionally, the 15th International Date Palm Exhibition (SIDATTES) is scheduled to take place in Erfoud from October 28 to November 1, 2026, focusing on innovation and the modernization of the date industry.
