Mars launches online hub to support pet adoption

Mars has launched the Mars Adoption Hub, an online platform designed to provide expert-backed advice to prospective and current pet owners. The initiative aims to address various barriers to pet adoption identified in recent research.

A global study involving over 26,000 participants across 14 countries revealed that concerns regarding pet health, behavior, and background often deter potential adopters. Specific challenges include managing animal aggression and separation anxiety, with approximately 29 percent of respondents seeking access to behaviorists for aggression and 28 percent for separation anxiety.

In Canada, housing policies were identified as a significant hurdle, with 29 percent of respondents stating that housing rules prevented them from adopting a pet. The launch of the hub serves as a precursor to the 2026 Mars Global Adoption Weekend, an event expected to expand into more than 30 countries to support community adoption initiatives.
