Marten de Roon transfers from Atalanta to AS Roma

Marten de Roon has completed a transfer from Atalanta to AS Roma, marking the end of a long tenure in Bergamo. The 35-year-old midfielder, who made 445 appearances for Atalanta, joined Roma following tensions with Atalanta's management.

Reports indicate that de Roon felt disrespected by Atalanta's sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, particularly after being potentially used as a piece in a transaction involving Bologna. The player had also expressed disappointment regarding the lack of a formal farewell to the Atalanta supporters.

At Roma, de Roon reunites with coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who has frequently utilized him throughout his career. Despite initial skepticism from Roma fans due to past social media interactions and his age, de Roon has made a positive early impact on the pitch. He has reportedly apologized to the Roma supporters and is integrating into the squad under Gasperini's tactical system.
