Martin McDonagh calls ‘Wild Horse Nine’ his most political film

Director Martin McDonagh has described his new film, ‘Wild Horse Nine’, as his most political work to date. Set shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup d'état, the film follows two CIA agents, played by John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, who travel to Easter Island after initiating operations to destabilize a newly elected leader.

The story centers on the relationship between a veteran operative and his protégé. The narrative explores themes of political interference and historical reflection, utilizing a macabre sense of humor characteristic of McDonagh’s previous works.
