Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine debuts at film festivals

Martin McDonagh’s latest film, ‘Wild Horse Nine’, has received critical acclaim following screenings at the Venice, Telluride, and Toronto film festivals. The dark comedy stars John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell as CIA officers.

Set in the 1970s, the narrative follows Chris (Malkovich), an aging agent facing terminal cancer, and his protégé Lee (Rockwell). After laying the groundwork for the 1973 coup in Chile, the duo travels to Rapa Nui (Easter Island) to view the Moai sculptures. The plot involves a somber suicide pact as the dying agent becomes increasingly loose-lipped about his espionage past, including a presidential assassination.

John Malkovich has been recognized for his performance, having previously won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor in Venice for the role.
