Martín Zubimendi attracts interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid
Martín Zubimendi is reportedly attracting interest from both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid following a decline in his playing time at Arsenal. The 27-year-old Spanish midfielder, who joined the London club in July 2025 for approximately €70 million, has seen his role diminished under Mikel Arteta, falling behind players such as Declan Rice and Bruno Guimarães.
FC Barcelona is considering Zubimendi as a long-term alternative to Frenkie de Jong, whose availability has been limited by knee injuries. Barcelona is currently monitoring the player's situation, noting his ability to dictate tempo and play under pressure, which aligns with Hansi Flick’s tactical preferences. However, no formal offer has been made to Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid is reportedly prepared to move for the midfielder during the winter transfer window. Seeking to bolster their midfield, the Spanish giants may be willing to meet the €70 million valuation set by Arsenal. While Zubimendi is under contract with Arsenal until June 2030, his reduced minutes may prompt him to seek a move if his status as a regular starter does not improve.
