Martyr Vi Ngọc Vinh repatriated to Phu Tho after 50 years

On the morning of September 26, the SE4 train arrived at Hanoi Station carrying the remains of martyr Vi Ngọc Vinh. After more than 50 years, his remains are being returned to his birthplace in Phu Tho province from Ho Chi Minh City.

Vi Ngọc Vinh was a sergeant and tank driver in Regiment 273, Corps 3, who died on April 30, 1975, the day of national reunification. The repatriation was facilitated by the Association for Supporting Vietnamese Martyrs' Families and Vietnam Railways, which provided free rail transport for the remains and two family members.

This effort is part of a broader campaign to locate and return the remains of fallen soldiers to their families. According to Vietnam Railways, since the beginning of 2026, the railway sector has provided free travel for 66 relatives of martyrs and transported 33 sets of remains.
