Chihuahua security cabinet reshuffle: Gilberto Loya and Luis Aguirre appointed

Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos has implemented significant changes to the state's security and justice leadership. Gilberto Loya Chávez, formerly the head of the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE), has been appointed as the acting head of the State Attorney General's Office (FGE). This move follows the resignation of former prosecutor César Jáuregui Moreno.

In the transition, Luis Ángel Aguirre Rodríguez, previously the SSPE subsecretary, has been named the new head of the SSPE. Aguirre has already begun meeting with state police in Ciudad Juárez, emphasizing a commitment to operational support alongside a strict demand for results and professional integrity.

Loya Chávez has initiated a reorganization within the FGE, introducing new leadership in key areas including the Vice-Prosecutor's office, the State Investigation Agency, and the Administration Directorate. While the business sector has expressed confidence in these changes, political figures such as Morena coordinator Cruz Pérez Cuéllar have criticized the appointments, alleging they are politically motivated attempts to maintain influence over the justice system.
