Marvel adaptations see X-Men returns and Spider-Noir cancellation

Marvel-inspired adaptations are seeing significant shifts in both film and television. The upcoming film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is set to bring back several classic X-Men characters, reigniting debates among fans regarding how iconic mutants have been treated in previous cinematic iterations. Critics and followers have noted past issues with character portrayals, including abrupt departures from comic book source material and radical changes to personalities.

In television, Amazon Prime Video has decided not to renew the series ‘Spider-Noir’ for a second season. Despite receiving eleven Emmy nominations and critical acclaim for its mature, noir-inspired tone set in 1930s New York, the production was halted after eight episodes. The decision was reportedly driven by high period-piece production costs and audience retention patterns. The series starred Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly and featured a creative team including Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.
