Marvel celebrates its history of fighting games with new release

Marvel has maintained a long-standing connection to the fighting game genre for over thirty years, transitioning from 1990s arcades to modern consoles and mobile devices. The latest entry in this lineage, ‘Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’, developed by Arc System Works, has launched on PS5 and PC. The new title features a stylized oriental art style, a 20-character starting roster, and a four-on-four combat system.

Historically, Marvel's presence in the genre includes significant titles such as the 1995 ‘Marvel Super Heroes’ published by Capcom. That game featured a roster including Iron Man, Hulk, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, building upon the foundation laid by ‘X-Men: Children of the Atom’.
