Arc System Works patches Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls PC performance

Arc System Works has released an emergency patch for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls to address severe performance issues on PC. Following its August 6 release, the PC version faced heavy criticism for stuttering, frame rate drops, and high CPU usage, causing the game's Steam rating to fall to 'Mostly Negative.' The technical problems were significant enough that prominent fighting game community streamer Maximilian Dood uninstalled the game during a livestream.

The new update focuses on reducing CPU load during startup and combat, specifically addressing unnecessary audio input checks that caused sudden performance drops. It also fixes frame rate issues at certain resolutions and resolves bugs related to battle settings and online lobby responsiveness. While the PlayStation 5 version has remained relatively stable, the patch aims to bring the PC experience closer to that standard. Players are advised to perform a shader warm-up after installing the update to ensure smoother gameplay.
