Marvel's Captain America adopts Miracleman mantle

In the comic book Avengers: Armageddon #4, the character David Colton, identified as the 21st-century Captain America, has undergone a major transformation by claiming the Miracleman mantle. This shift grants Colton godlike powers derived from the Origin Box.

This development marks a significant integration of the Miracleman character into the main Marvel continuity. Previously, the character—reimagined by Alan Moore in the 1980s—was kept separate from the primary Marvel Universe due to long-standing legal disputes regarding ownership. While Marvel eventually acquired the rights, the character had remained isolated from the main narrative until this event.

Avengers editor Wil Moss stated that writer Chip Zdarsky has plans for Colton that will impact both the Avengers and the broader Marvel Universe. This storyline is set to lead into the upcoming Avengers #1 release in November.
