Maryland announces deer hunting seasons and fishing updates
Maryland is entering seasonal shifts for outdoor recreational activities. The early muzzleloader deer season is scheduled to open statewide from October 22 to October 24. In Region B, which encompasses the state’s central, southern, and eastern areas, hunters may also use muzzleloaders for antlerless deer from October 26 to October 31.
For the 2026-27 season, the statewide bag limit for antlered white-tailed deer is set at two, though hunters can purchase a Bonus Antlered Deer Stamp to allow for a third. An antler-point restriction remains in effect, requiring most harvested antlered deer to have at least three points. Additionally, the early muzzleloader season for sika deer is open statewide from October 22 to October 24.
Regarding fishing, conditions in Maryland have remained favorable for various fresh and saltwater species. While warm, sunny weather has been present, cooler temperatures are expected. Water temperatures in the Main Bay surface and river mouths are around 70 degrees, while smaller rivers and streams have dropped to the low to mid 60s. The fall trout stocking program is currently underway.
