Masam Project clears landmines in Hajjah and Al Dhale'e

The Masam Project for landmine clearance in Yemen has completed significant demining and disposal operations in the Al Dhale'e and Hajjah governorates.

In Al Dhale'e, specifically the Dhakhar area, teams destroyed 299 pieces of war remnants and unexploded ordnance. The items included one thermal rocket, 10 anti-personnel mines, 13 various shells, 9 explosive devices, 177 assorted rounds, 85 fuses, and 4 hand grenades. These materials were collected from the Qa'tabah, Shakhab, Al-Ruba'i, and Al-Qaflah areas to mitigate risks to civilians, particularly children and shepherds.

In Hajjah governorate, near the village of Al-Makhazen in the Midi district, teams cleared 30,000 square meters of agricultural land during August and September. The operation resulted in the removal of 120 anti-tank mines, 13 anti-personnel mines, 130 pieces of unexploded ammunition, and 20 explosive devices. The project aims to allow farmers and herders to safely return to their lands and livelihoods while conducting awareness campaigns to prevent accidental contact with hazardous materials.
