Masatada Ishii appointed as coach for Nadeshiko Japan

The Japan Football Association (JFA) has announced the appointment of Masatada Ishii as a coach for Nadeshiko Japan, the Japan women's national football team. Ishii, 59, is expected to join the team starting with their activities in October.

Ishii brings extensive coaching experience to the role, having previously managed the Thailand national team from 2023 to 2025, as well as clubs such as Buriram United and BG Pathum United. His domestic career includes a successful tenure at Kashima Antlers, where he led the team to a J1 League title and earned the J.League Manager of the Year award in 2016.

Upon his appointment, Ishii expressed his honor in joining the staff and stated his intention to support manager Kano's vision and create an environment where players can perform at their maximum potential to help shape a new history for Japanese women's football.
