The Nadeshiko Japan women’s national football team has undergone recent personnel changes involving both players and coaching staff.

In early September, manager Michihisa Kano called up defender Yuki Seno to the squad for the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya following an injury to Chisato Ichise. Seno’s selection marks her as only the second mother to be chosen for the national team, a move Kano noted should become the “standard” to ensure players can work confidently regardless of family situations. The Japan Football Association (JFA) intends to coordinate support for Seno through its existing childcare support system.
