Maserati launches Project GT4 racing car based on GranTurismo, targets 2028 GT4 championship

Maserati announced Project GT4, a new GT4‑category race car built on the upgraded GranTurismo platform. The car features a 400 kg weight reduction, a front‑mounted 3.0 L V6 Nettuno engine delivering over 700 hp, rear‑wheel drive and a chassis derived from GT2 and the MCXtrema prototype. Development in Modena incorporated input from chief test driver Andrea Bertolini, and the vehicle includes GT4‑spec components such as front splitters, aerodynamic packages, roll cage and 18‑inch wheels.

The project was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, aligning with the 100th anniversary of Maserati’s trident logo and the 112th anniversary of the brand. Maserati aims to return to circuit competition by 2028 and to secure the GT4 championship, continuing its legacy in the fast‑growing GT4 segment.
