Turkish municipalities upgrade water infrastructure and tariffs

Various Turkish municipalities are implementing water infrastructure upgrades and social tariff systems to improve service reliability and support citizens.

In Tekirdağ, TESKİ is renewing the drinking water infrastructure in Hayrabolu’s İlyas neighborhood. The project involves installing 1,012 meters of new piping to prevent frequent breakdowns and water loss. Following the pipe installation, the Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality will perform asphalt work on the affected streets.

In Manisa, MASKİ is conducting displacement work on a 2-kilometer main transmission line in the Beypınar neighborhood of Selendi. The existing line, which passes through agricultural lands, has reached the end of its service life and caused frequent interruptions. This follows a previous project in Selendi where approximately 10 kilometers of water lines were laid.

In Antalya, ASAT is utilizing a tiered tariff system to promote water conservation and provide social support. Residents consuming less than 5 cubic meters per month receive a significantly reduced rate. Additionally, the municipality offers discounts to small businesses, livestock producers, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and students to alleviate financial burdens and encourage sustainable water use.
