Iran eliminates need for gasoline imports, Pezeshkian says

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that the country no longer requires gasoline imports due to successful energy consumption management and public cooperation. He noted that the nation had previously faced a potential $12 billion expenditure for fuel imports.

Pezeshkian stated that all revenue generated from increased fuel prices and savings through managed consumption will be returned to the people. He emphasized that the government's priority remains securing the livelihoods of citizens and providing essential goods despite economic sanctions and external pressures.

During a government information council meeting, the President also highlighted the importance of environmental considerations in national development policies. He advocated for sustainable urban transport, such as ‘car-free Tuesdays’, to reduce pollution and fuel consumption, and urged administrative bodies to promote environmental protection culture.
