Masterboi exports first beef shipment from Northeast Brazil to China

The Masterboi meatpacking plant in Canhotinho, Pernambuco, has completed its first shipment of beef to China. The 27-ton container will be transported via the Port of Suape to the Port of Shanghai, with an estimated arrival in 2027 to align with China's import quotas.

This operation marks the first time a meatpacking plant in Northeast Brazil has been authorized to export beef to the Chinese market. The Canhotinho unit is currently the only facility in the region with this specific authorization. To meet international standards, the company has implemented an automatic freezing tunnel and plans to increase slaughter capacity to over 1,000 cattle per day by the end of the year.

Agriculture Minister André de Paula and Masterboi President Nelson Bezerra attended the ceremony, noting the shipment's potential to drive regional economic development and strengthen the integration of Northeastern livestock into global trade. Masterboi currently exports to more than 140 countries.
