Masterboi exports first beef shipment from Northeast Brazil to China

The Masterboi slaughterhouse in Canhotinho, Pernambuco, has completed the first shipment of beef from Northeast Brazil to China. The 27-ton cargo, consisting of forequarter cuts, was dispatched on October 23 and will travel from the Agreste region to the Port of Suape before being shipped to Shanghai.

This operation marks a significant milestone as the Pernambuco plant is currently the only slaughterhouse in the Northeast authorized to export beef to the Chinese market. While Brazil has 69 plants enabled to export to China across 12 states, this represents the first entry for the Northeastern regional production chain.

Masterboi plans to increase its daily slaughter capacity from approximately 800 to 920 animals to meet growing demand. Nelson Bezerra, the company's founder and president, noted that the authorization allows the company to improve the value obtained from the entire carcass. The shipment is expected to arrive in China in 2027.
