MasterChef Junior moves from TVE to Disney+

MasterChef Junior is moving from the Spanish public broadcaster TVE to Disney+. Following an agreement between the production company Shine Iberia and Disney+, the children's culinary franchise will transition to the streaming platform starting with its twelfth season.

This move follows a decline in viewership for the program on traditional television. While the eleventh season averaged approximately 708,000 viewers—falling below the average for La 1—the transition to a digital platform aims to reach a younger, native digital audience. The casting process for the new season, featuring participants aged eight to twelve, was initiated in the summer by chef Jordi Cruz.

While the junior version moves to streaming, the adult and Celebrity editions of the MasterChef franchise are expected to remain on La 1. Disney+ has already begun promotional activities for the new season, which is anticipated to align with the Christmas period.
