Mateusz Morawiecki sets 15 Oct date for Rozwój Plus convention and new party
Former prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that the Rozwój Plus association will hold its convention on 15 October, the third anniversary of the 2023 parliamentary elections. The event, dubbed a “Festiwal idei”, took place in Warsaw’s Praga district and combined debates with a picnic, featuring politicians, experts and local supporters.
Morawiecki said the gathering marks the start of a broader “march through Poland”, outlining goals such as stopping uncontrolled immigration, raising wages, boosting the competitiveness of Polish firms and competing with the United States and China. He warned that Poland faces a choice between decline and higher development.
The announcement comes amid a split within the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party. PiS leadership issued an ultimatum to members involved with Rozwój Plus; their party membership was declared “dead”, prompting the formation of a separate parliamentary club of 40 deputies and one senator. Morawiecki declared that a new political party will be founded no later than the 15 October convention.
