Morawiecki proposes strict migration plan and deportation service

Mateusz Morawiecki and the Rozwój Plus political group have unveiled a comprehensive migration management plan titled “Najbezpieczniejsze państwo świata” (The Safest Country in the World). The proposal is built on five pillars, including the creation of a specialized deportation service, the establishment of a Ministry of Migration and Assimilation, and the implementation of individual immigrant accounts to track legal status, employment, and tax compliance.

The plan also suggests a “total assimilation” model requiring immigrants to learn the Polish language and respect local culture, alongside a system of deportation alerts for legal violations. Additionally, the group proposes a “Return to Poland” program to encourage repatriation through tax and housing incentives, and a cap on annual non-EU work visas. One controversial suggestion includes holding a referendum on whether Poland should temporarily suspend its participation in the Schengen Area to enhance border security.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has sharply criticized these proposals, describing them as “pure populism” and stating that Morawiecki has “lost his mind,” particularly regarding the Schengen suggestion. Tusk defended the current government's handling of illegal migration and reminded critics of the previous administration's visa scandal. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński also dismissed the plan, labeling it as populist rhetoric.
