Mathilde Touvier appointed head of France's new national nutrition program

The French Ministry of Health named Dr. Mathilde Touvier, director of the Epidemiology Nutrition Research Team at CRESS, to preside over the fifth National Nutrition and Health Programme (PNNS 5) for 2025‑2030. The appointment was formalised on 7 July in the presence of Director‑General of Health Prof. Didier Lepelletier, who highlighted the programme’s goals: creating healthier food environments, guiding consumers toward better nutrition across all ages, and mobilising schools and workplaces. Priorities include gradually reducing sugar content in foods for children, expanding the Nutri‑Score system, and combating the marketing of unhealthy foods to youth. “Prevention nutrition is one of the most effective investments to improve the population’s health long‑term,” said Prof. Lepelletier.
