Mathura jewelry shop theft: 10kg gold and 15 lakh cash stolen

A major theft occurred at Jugal Kishore Amit Kumar Jewellers in the Kosikalan jewelry market of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. A thief escaped with approximately 10 kilograms of gold jewelry and 15 lakh rupees in cash. Based on current market rates, the stolen gold is valued at roughly 14 crore rupees.

Investigations suggest the perpetrator entered the shop via the roof by cutting through a net and accessed the strong room by breaking a lock on an adjacent room. The thief appears to have used a key to open the safe, as there were no signs of forced entry on the vault itself. Notably, the thief ignored silver ornaments and brass utensils, specifically targeting high-value gold and cash. The perpetrator also stole the shop’s DVR to prevent identification via CCTV footage.

The incident has raised significant concerns regarding local security, as a police picket is stationed only about 100 meters from the shop. Local traders have expressed outrage and threatened to close the market if the crime is not solved promptly. Police are currently reviewing footage from surrounding CCTV cameras and conducting inquiries to identify the suspect.
